Moving from Jan Juc to Anglesea: Moving Heavy Tables, Antiques, and lauge Plant Pots with Care – Easy Eagles your Surfcoast Removalist
“Moving house was daunting, especially moving from a single-story home to a double-story one. Our recent move from Jan Juc to Anglesea was no exception. As we prepared for the move, we knew we had some heavy items to transport, including a really large and heavy table and some antique furniture. We also had to figure out if we could move our heavy plant pots without damaging them.
Fortunately, we found Easy Eagles, a professional removalist company on the Surf coast that specializes in moving house in the Anglesea area. They were able to provide us with expert advice in the lead up to the move, plus they could handle the plants and the antiques. They also offered a range of packing and unpacking services to make the move as stress-free as possible. With their help, we were able to move our belongings with no issues at all.
My description of the move here:
A pretty standard classic move from Jan Juc to Anglesea – 4 bedroom house, a descent amount of items which filled the 50 cubic meter truck about 80% full. The access at the single story house in Jan Juc was good, however the access at Anglesea was tight – a downhill sloping driveway, steps up into the downstairs story and it was reverse living, meaning that all the larger items (table, chairs, artwork, BBQ, fridge, master bed, guest bed) all had to go upstairs via an external staircase. A large and very heavy table required us to remove it’s steel legs, in order to lift and manouvre it from one house to the next.

There are many things to consider, such as packing, transportation, and choosing the right removalist. In this section, we will provide you with some tips and advice to make your move as smooth as possible.
Preparing for the Move
Before you start packing, it’s important to have a plan in place. Make a list of all the items you need to pack and decide what you will take with you and what you will leave behind. This will help you to stay organized and avoid any last-minute surprises.
Packing Antiques and Valuables
If you have any antiques or valuables, it’s important to take extra care when packing them. Wrap them in bubble wrap or packing paper and label the boxes as fragile. Consider taking them with you in your car rather than putting them in the moving truck.
Moving Heavy Furniture
Moving heavy furniture can be a real challenge. If you have heavy tables or other furniture, it’s important to use the right equipment to move them safely. Consider hiring a professional removalist who has experience in moving heavy items.
Securing Plant Pots for Transport
If you have large plant pots, it’s important to secure them properly for transport. Use packing material such as bubble wrap or packing paper to protect the plants and pots during the move. Consider using a removalist who has experience in moving plants.
Choosing the Right Removalist
Choosing the right removalist is crucial to a successful move. Look for a removalist who has experience in moving houses in Anglesea and who is licensed and insured. Consider getting quotes from several removalists to compare prices and services.
Understanding Moving Contracts
Before you sign a contract with a removalist, it’s important to read and understand the terms and conditions. Look for any lock-in contracts or 12-month plans and make sure you understand the payment information. Consider getting full digital access to your contract for easy reference.
Scheduling and Timing
Scheduling and timing are important factors to consider when moving house. Consider the time of year and weather conditions when planning your move. Book your removalist well in advance to ensure you get the dates you need.

Settling into Your New Home
Moving to a new home can be both exciting and daunting. After all the hard work of packing, loading, and unloading, it’s finally time to settle into your new home. Here are some tips to help make the transition smoother.
Unpacking and Organising
Once you’ve moved in, it’s time to start unpacking and organising your belongings. Start with the essentials, such as bedding, toiletries, and kitchenware. Then move on to other items, such as clothing and decorations. Make sure to label your boxes clearly to make unpacking easier.
Consider creating a floor plan to help you visualise where your furniture will go. This can save you time and effort later on. Also, take the time to declutter and get rid of items you no longer need or want. This can help you free up space and make your new home feel more organised.
Adjusting to a Double Story Layout
Moving from a single-story to a double-story home can be a big adjustment. Take the time to familiarise yourself with the layout of your new home. This can help you avoid accidents and make navigating your new space easier.
Consider investing in safety features, such as stair gates and handrails, to prevent falls and injuries. Also, make sure to store heavy items on the lower level to avoid carrying them up and down the stairs.
Integrating into the Community
Moving to a new community can be a great opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. Take the time to explore your new neighbourhood and get involved in local activities. This can help you feel more connected to your new community and make the transition easier.
Consider joining local clubs or groups that align with your interests. This can be a great way to meet like-minded people and get involved in your new community. Also, consider volunteering or attending community events to meet new people and get to know your new neighbourhood. At Easy Eagles, we know how important community is on the Surf Coast.

Cultural and Environmental Considerations
Respecting Traditional Owners
Moving to a new location means we need to be aware of the local culture and traditions. As we move from Jan Juc to Anglesea, we acknowledge that we are now on the land of the Eastern Maar, Wadawurrung, Gulidjan, and Gadubanud Peoples. We respect their connection to this land and their ongoing cultural and spiritual practices. We will ensure that our move does not disturb any significant cultural sites or artifacts.
We also recognize the importance of engaging with the local Elders and Traditional Owners. We will seek their guidance and support to ensure that our move is conducted in a culturally appropriate manner. This includes understanding the proper protocols for entering and leaving the land, as well as any specific cultural considerations that we need to take into account during the move.
Preserving Local Ecosystems
Moving to a new home also means we need to be mindful of the local environment. As we move from a single-story to a double-story house, we need to ensure that our move does not have a negative impact on the local ecosystem. We will take care to minimize any damage to the soil, water, and air during the move.
We will also take special care when moving heavy tables, antiques, and plant pots. These items may be delicate and require special handling to ensure that they are not damaged during the move. We will work with experienced removalists who have the necessary expertise to move these items safely.
Finally, we recognize the importance of preserving local wildlife and ecosystems. We will take care to ensure that our move does not disrupt any local ecosystems or endanger any local wildlife, such as eels in the Barwon River.
